Tissera is currently
conducting R&D in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science
where a significant amount of research is performed. Tissera is in the
process of establishing its own facilities where product development and
research will be conducted.
Keys points in current research include:
1. Optimization of timing of tissue harvesting for each organ precursor
tissue.
2. Optimization of transplantation procedures.
Preclinical studies:
The Company plans to begin experiments implanting kidney precursor
tissues harvested from human and pig embryos in large animal models.
This will allow scientists to monitor the growth of precursor tissues,
to develop appropriate surgical techniques, to optimize the amount of
tissue transplanted and to determine the most suitable use of
immunosuppressive drugs. The Company also plans to develop methods for
storage of its tissue products prior to transplantations.
