News), a
biotechnology company dedicated to developing novel tissue precursor
regeneration technologies to address a myriad of fatal illnesses
where an organ transplantation is necessary announced that Dr. Vicki
Rabenou, MD has been appointed CEO.
Prior to joining Tissera, Dr. Rabenou was the President and CEO
of the Rad BioMed Incubator and Board Member of each company in the
incubator. There, Dr. Rabenou was responsible for identifying and
promoting innovative and promising early stage biomedical companies.
Dr. Rabenou is a graduate of the Hadassah Medical School of the
Hebrew University in Jerusalem with training in Obstetrics and
Gynecology.
"I am very enthusiastic about my new position and am looking
forward to fulfilling the company's mission to develop new sources
for tissue and organ transplantation. We face a great challenge in
helping millions of sufferers who are forced to wait years for a
suitable organ donor because there are no alternatives. Many people
die waiting, while the lucky ones, who finally get a matching donor
and undergo a successfully organ transplant, are kept on high doses
of immunosuppressive drugs which leave them vulnerable to infectious
diseases and at a high risk for cancer. We are here to change that
and offer these individuals new hope," said Dr. Rabenou.
About Tissera
Tissera is a biotechnology company dedicated to the development
of novel tissue precursor regeneration technologies for treating
gene deficiencies and diseases in which organ transplantation is
necessary, while minimizing the dosage of immunosuppressive drugs.
Tissera licensed the worldwide exclusive rights to the technology
developed at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel led by
Professor Yair Reisner. In this research, scientists successfully
implanted embryonic human and porcine kidney precursor tissues in
mice, which grew into functional kidneys. This research was
published in Nature Medicine and attracted worldwide scientific and
media attention.
